How we check a house before it goes live
Our review process, described in full so you can judge it.
Our review process, described in full so you can judge it.
Every house on Nkwata is reviewed by a person before it appears in search. Here is exactly what that review involves, so you can judge how much weight to give it.
What we check on every listing
- That the landlord's phone number is real and answers
- That the photographs show one property, consistently
- That the photographs are not taken from elsewhere on the internet
- That the stated location and the pin agree with each other
- That the price is within a plausible range for that quarter and type
- That the description does not contradict the photographs
- That an ownership declaration has been signed
What raises the tier
Identity documents move a listing to 'Identity checked'. Ownership paperwork moves it to 'Documents on file'. A physical visit by our agent moves it to 'Nkwata-verified'.
What happens after it goes live
- The map location locks and cannot be changed
- Changing the property type sends it back for review
- Every edit is recorded
- Reports from users are investigated, and enough of them suspend the listing automatically
What we cannot do
We cannot guarantee the house is good, the price fair, or the landlord easy to deal with. We check what can be checked and we show you the level. The rest is your judgement, and standing inside the house before you pay is still the most important thing you can do.
