Using Nkwata offline and on a weak connection

Why the platform installs to your phone, and what still works when the signal drops.

The short answer

Why the platform installs to your phone, and what still works when the signal drops.

Data is expensive and signal is unreliable. The platform is built around both of those facts rather than in spite of them.

Install it from the browser

There is no app store download. Open the site, choose 'Add to home screen' from your browser menu, and it sits on your phone like any app — using almost no storage.

What works without a connection

  • Houses you have already opened stay readable
  • Your shortlist, which is stored on your phone
  • The places you saved for comparison
  • The quarter guides you have viewed

What needs a connection

New searches, unlocking a listing, and contacting a landlord. Everything else you have already looked at stays available.

Why it uses so little data

Photographs are compressed and served from storage that does not charge for delivery, so we can afford to serve them properly. The interface itself is small and cached after the first visit, so returning costs almost nothing.

Worth remembering

Your shortlist and your saved places never leave your phone. We do not hold them, and no landlord can see them.

We inspect and verify houses across Bamenda — Nkwen, Up Station, Mankon, Old Town, Ntarikon, Mile 2, Below Foncha and Bambili. Everything here comes from properties we have stood inside and landlords we have dealt with, not from research at a desk.
