What a walkthrough video should show
Ninety seconds, one take, and the things people actually want to see.
Ninety seconds, one take, and the things people actually want to see.
A walkthrough video draws dramatically more serious enquiries than photographs alone, because it is much harder to hide anything in a continuous shot. That is precisely why people trust it.
How to shoot it
- Hold the phone horizontally. Always.
- Walk slowly. Slower than feels natural.
- Start outside at the gate, so people can orient themselves
- Move through the house in the order somebody would walk it
- Pause two or three seconds in each room
- Open the tap and film it running
- Finish in the compound, showing the surroundings
What to say
Narrate briefly and factually — 'this is the second bedroom, the window faces the morning'. Do not sell. The video is doing that for you.
Length
Ninety seconds to two minutes. Longer and people stop watching; shorter and it feels like something is being skipped.
What not to do
- Do not shoot at night
- Do not cut between rooms — the continuity is the point
- Do not add music
- Do not skip the bathroom, which is what everyone is waiting for
