Disclaimer
We are a noticeboard, not an agent. This page says plainly what that means for you.
01What Nkwata is, and is not
Nkwata is a noticeboard. We publish listings and connect people. We are not an estate agent, a property manager, a landlord, or a party to any tenancy.
- We do not own or manage any property listed
- We do not broker or negotiate any tenancy
- We take no commission on any lease
- We never receive or hold rent, deposits or caution money
- We are not a party to any agreement you reach with a landlord
02What we check, and what that means
We review every listing before it goes live, and every listing carries a visible verification tier explaining what has been confirmed.
That review is real, and we describe it fully on our verification page. But it has limits, and we would rather state them plainly than imply more than we deliver.
Verification confirms that a property exists, that the details are internally consistent, and — at higher tiers — that the person listing it is who they say they are. It does not confirm that the property is in good condition, that the price is fair, or that the landlord will behave well.
03The three rules we ask everyone to follow
Visit the property in person. Confirm the landlord's right to rent it. Never pay a deposit for a house you have not stood inside.
These three rules prevent almost every loss we hear about. No platform, ours included, can substitute for standing inside a house before you commit your money to it.
No legitimate landlord in Cameroon requires payment before you enter a property. A request for money before entry is the clearest warning sign there is.
04Information on this site
Rent figures, quarter guides and advice on this site are provided in good faith, based on what our field team observes. They are general guidance, not professional advice, and market conditions change.
Anything we publish about the law is a plain-language introduction to help you know when to ask for proper advice. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for a lawyer.
05Where our responsibility ends
Once you contact a landlord or caretaker directly — and certainly once you enter a property or a tenancy — that relationship is yours, not ours.
We are not responsible for the condition of any property, the conduct of any landlord, tenant or caretaker, the terms of any tenancy, or any loss arising from them.
If something goes wrong, tell us. We will act on the listing, preserve records, and help where we can. But we cannot resolve a dispute we are not party to.
06External links
Where we link to other websites, we do so because we believe them useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your data.
