Why we charge 500 francs to unlock a house
The reasoning behind the model, including what it costs us.
The reasoning behind the model, including what it costs us.
A fair question, and one worth answering properly rather than defensively.
Search stays free, and it always will
Charging to browse would exclude exactly the people who need this most — students, first-time renters, anyone counting francs. So search is free, with no account and no limit.
What the 500 francs pays for
- A person reviewing that house before it was allowed to appear
- The walkthrough video, which costs real money to host and deliver
- The exact Plus Code pin, which somebody had to capture at the gate
- The verification work behind whatever tier the listing carries
- The platform continuing to exist
The less obvious reason
A small payment at the point of contact keeps both sides serious. Landlords answer their phones because the people calling have committed something. On a free platform, landlords stop answering within a month because most calls are from people idly scrolling.
That is not a theory. It is the pattern on every free classifieds site in this market.
What we do not charge for
We take no commission on any lease. We never hold rent or deposits. Once you have the contact, the relationship is yours — we are not between you and the landlord, and we do not want to be.
